D-Nine is a highly creative entry into the genre of Fantasy Fiction. The main premise is very interesting, the transporting of a middle aged male doctor from the “real” world into the body of a teenage girl from a fantasy realm. It brings up some awkward and amusing moments throughout the story.
The characters of Dr. James/Princess Sarabeth are three dimensional and likeable. The dialog is witty and fun. The plot itself is fast-paced, with more than enough action and plot twists. The scene settings and descriptions are also well expressed.
The only criticisms I have is that the book itself could use a pass from a good editor. The use of dashes to denote dialog and lack of dialog tags threw me off a bit. Also, there were a few grammatical mistakes which should be polished out.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this short novel and look forward to more installments from Magus Tor.
